Management

Strategy
Practices
Jan implements  state of the art viticulture practices, fungicide prevention and vineyard management, and prides herself on staying current with local growers and viticulture experts around the country, including from the Penn State's Extension Program for Wine Grapes.

From soil testing to vineyard layout, training to harvest, every detail of grape growing is critical and highly considered.  An organized, thorough and well planned out approach are keys to our business.  Timing and attention to detail are critical factors in producing the highest quality fruit.

BrandyWine Vines manages first year vineyards as well as mature vines and vineyard rehabilitation.

Early vines need particularly intense care and attention for proper root establishment and growth. Jan will consult with the land owner regarding  soil amendments, clonal selections, land and vine preparation, planting and trellis systems

As the vines mature, pruning and canopy management are critical factors for superior fruit outcomes.
